The Youth Center in Kalamata directly opened its door and its heart and it was where it was firstly expressed. And thankfully Kalamata is not the only place where forró is welcomed. In Thessaloniki it spreads around with the steps of Forró Grécia Thessaloniki and in Athens with the voice and music of Calangos.
It took place from the 8th to the 11th of September and it was the second year for the forró devotees, also called forrozeiros, to meet in Kalamata. Dancers and musicians from Brazil and from several places around Europe arrived on Friday 11, September to meet again or for the first time, to dance and enjoy together with the local fans of Brazilian music and culture, to come in contact with the Greek beauty, the local gastronomy and the typical hospitality spread all around.
Forró was born in the Northeast of Brazil with Luiz Gonzaga as its father, who definitely had never imagined that his music would reach this corner of the world some decades later. It is all about a rhythm, a music, a dance, a lifestyle, the power of which emerges from freedom, smile, happiness, positive energy, love, life.
